HERE ARE YOUR RESULTS

You may have sensitive skin

With sensitive skin, the outer layer tends to have a weakened barrier function, so it can be damaged more easily. Symptoms of atopic skin include redness, itching and dryness on the body and face. Skin can also flare up when you come into contact with dust, animal hair, pollution and certain fabrics like wool and synthetics.

There are many causes of sensitive skin: weather, diet, pollution or stress can play a part, as can reactions to certain skincare and cosmetic products. Protect sensitive skin by using dermatologically tested products like shower gel, shower cream, antiperspirant or deodorant that soothe irritations, repair the skin barrier and gently nourish your skin on a daily basis.

Facts about Sensitive Skin

Fact 1

Sensitive skin can affect all areas of the body, although it most commonly flares up around the elbows, hands, knees, and cheeks.

Fact 2

People who suffer from any skin sensitivity usually have periods where they won't show any symptoms. However, it's important to seek advice from a dermatologist if symptoms become worse to find out how to properly care for it.

Fact 3

Sensitive skin reactions can be a result of your immune system going into overdrive from a perceived threat. This is often the case with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

Fact 4

When the skin begins to feel sensitive, it's a sign that your skin barrier has been weakened by external factors like climate or pollution, or internal changes like stress or fatigue. You can usually feel it before you can see it.

Your Routine

Step 1

While you can't control all the internal and external factors that trigger skin sensitivity, you can certainly control the products you use on your skin. Reinforcing your skin's natural protective barrier by using gentle products such as body wash for sensitive skin or shower cream, can boost your skin's natural defences while locking in natural moisture.

Step 2

Use products that contain minimal ingredients and that are specially formulated for sensitive skin. This includes the products like body wash, shower cream, deodorant and antiperspirant. Keep in mind that lots of bubble bath and bath bombs can irritate your skin. Taking care when buying detergents and laundry products is also vital, as some products can cause irritation and trigger skin reactions and even allergies.

Step 3

Sensitivity in the underarms can be treated by using specialised deodorant or antiperspirant and avoiding aerosol sprays. For sensitive hands, wear gloves when doing the dishes or cleaning as hot water and harsh chemicals will further irritate your skin.
